The second series of hit mystery drama A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder is now available on BBC iPlayer after filming once again in and around Bristol, with support from our Film Office team.
Based on the bestselling novels by Holly Jackson and starring Emma Myers, the hit YA (Young Adult) show is produced by Moonage Pictures, part of ITV Studios (The Gentlemen, The Famous Five, Bodies) in a co-production with Netflix and ZDFneo.
Frith Tiplady, Managing Director of Moonage Pictures says: “Working in Bristol means working with highly skilled local crew and a rich catalogue of diverse locations. Being based out of The Bottle Yard means we can access local locations for this series such as Ashton Court Estate and Mansion House. With a team of 60 local crew and 30 cast we completed our 12 week shoot entirely within the Bristol area.”

On location, Bristol Film Office facilitated filming at Ashton Court Estate and Manor House, which features as an abandoned manor where the dramatic climax of series two’s finale (Episode 6) takes place. Director Asim Abassi describes Ashton Court as his favourite location of the series. “It was originally meant to be something else, but I pushed for it to be a manor, so I am personally attached to it,” says Abbasi. “It ended up being a phenomenal location and, to me, captures the essence of season two.”

Production was once again based at The Bottle Yard Studios, where sets were built for various settings including Pip’s bedroom, school classrooms, police investigation rooms and driving sequences. All production offices, costumes, props and storage were located at the Studios.
Other Bristol locations included Clifton Village, Lacy Road and nearby Derricke Road in Stockwood and Redmaids School in Westbury on Trym, which serves as the fictional ‘Little Kilton School’.
Other Film Offices across the West of England supported filming on location further afield, including Tetbury, Gloucester Prison and Culverhay School in Bath. Axbridge in Somerset once again provided the backdrop for the fictional ‘Little Kilton’ village. Director Asim Abbasi described the town as “lovely but small, so you get the challenges of a tight-knit community curious about filming. But it is wonderfully quaint and perfect for Little Kilton.”

Series 2: What’s In Store
After solving the Andie Bell case, Series 2 finds Pip (Emma Myers) determined to fix the fallout – and stay away from any more investigations. But as Max Hastings’ (Henry Ashton) trial approaches, Connor’s (Jude Morgan-Collie) brother Jamie (Eden H Davies) suddenly disappears, and Pip finds herself in a race against time to find him.
A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder is adapted by Poppy Cogan, directed by Dolly Wells and produced by Florence Walker. Executive producers are Matthew Read, Matthew Bouch and Frith Tiplady for Moonage Pictures, with Lucy Richer and Danielle Scott-Haughton for the BBC, and Dolly Wells, Holly Jackson and Poppy Cogan.
Series One was a big hit when it premiered in Summer 2024, becoming one of BBC iPlayer’s most watched titles with 16-24 years old and BBC Three’s highest rating drama since its relaunch. Since Series Two launched in May, a third and final series of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder has been officially confirmed by the BBC and will premiere in 2027.
